Abert Water Treatment Plant Upgrades
Wiley|Wilson worked with the City of Lynchburg on the 10 MGD surface water Abert Water Treatment Plant upgrades and rehabilitation. The series of renovation projects included replacing the rapid mix and flocculator drives, speed controllers, and mixing devices, replacing the gas chlorine system with a sodium hypochlorite storage and feed system and a complete electrical system renovation. These upgrades increased the WTP’s reliability and efficiency by removing gaseous chlorine to reduce chemical hazards, instituting tapered flocculation to increase treatment process control and installing modern electrical equipment and high efficiency light fixtures.
