Energy Audit for Water and Wastewater Treatment and Conveyance Facilities
Wiley|Wilson performed an energy audit for water and wastewater treatment facilities on the County’s largest and most significant conveyance/distribution systems to investigate opportunities to reduce electrical operational costs.
The team conducted an energy audit on five large water and wastewater pumping stations (4-16 MGD) and the Totopotomoy wastewater treatment plant (7.5 MGD). For each pump station, actual pump operating efficiencies were determined for the range of normal operation; wire to water efficiencies were calculated; system operations were analyzed to determine relative impacts on energy use and a sensitivity analysis was conducted on available rate schedules to determine the most economical schedule for current and future operating conditions.
