Liberty Mountain Gun Club
Wiley|Wilson provided civil engineering and architecture design services for Liberty University’s Liberty Mountain Gun Club, a competition-ready sports shooting complex. The facility is the only one of its kind on a college campus, with ranges for all Olympic shooting sports.
The complex features several venues, including 100-, 200-, and 300-yard rifle ranges; a tactical shooting range; a teaching range; skeet and trap ranges; a bunker trap; and a ZZ bird range. The facility will eventually include a 2,000 SF bunker house and an 8,000 SF awards pavilion/classroom/storage building, for which the firm has provided structural and architecture design.
Wiley|Wilson performed the design for site utilities, including public water, on-site sanitary sewer, and stormwater management and all site improvements, including roads and grading for the different ranges. The firm coordinated with Liberty University to advise where each range would best be located. The facility is located on a mountainside, so the biggest challenge was grading very flat spaces in a steep location.
