Improvements for the North Rotary and Fern Access Control Point
Wiley|Wilson provided full architectural and engineering design services for access control points at the Pentagon. This design-build project with Akima Construction Services replaced the access control point known as North Rotary and Fern.
New structures consisted of a 40 SF police booth, gatehouse, pre-screening area canopy, screening area canopy, and associated site improvements. The 660 SF gatehouse is a single-story building containing a command center with storage area, a communication room, and an electrical room.
These facilities maintain the exterior aesthetic look of the existing police booth and gatehouse and reflect the theme for entry points/booths throughout the Pentagon Reservation. The access control point is compliant with AT/FP standards, and ballistic resistance (UL 752 Level III).
The project required submission and approval through the National Capital Planning Commission (NCPC).
