Wingate Tank Project

Wiley|Wilson worked with the City of Lynchburg to complete an innovative water storage tank project. The 500,000 gallon tank was constructed using pre-cast post-tensioned concrete technology that allowed the tank walls and roof to be erected in 3 days!

The design team completed WaterCAD hydraulic modeling to assist the City in siting the tank, and arranged site visits to several completed tank installations to evaluate different tank technologies. The innovative pre-cast post-tensioned concrete technology was selected using a 100-year net present value evaluation of different types of tank technologies factoring in probable construction costs and future maintenance costs.
